Ghost Tours of Tampa Bay

We have to give a big thanks to Ghost Tours of Tampa Bay!!!! It was through them that we had the opportunity to get some really incredible evidence! Ghost Tours of Tampa have ghost hunts all year round. They have a tour guide who tells you the history of the ghosts and the different places. We have managed to do ghost hunts in Downtown Tampa, Downtown St. Petersburg, and Gulfport. What Kinds of Ghost Equipment Do I Need?

Well, there are so many different types of ghost equipment out there that anyone could have a heart attack just picking. That is why we took the guess work out of what you need. And to be honest, you don't need much. When we started out all we had was a digital camera and digital voice recorder. That was it!!!! And we managed to get some really good pictures and EVP's from only those two items. I have made a list of the things you will need based on money:

Little to no Money but want to get evidence

1.  Digital Camera- most cameras work but to really get good evidence,  we suggest the
Canon PowerShot SD1000 7.1MP Digital Elph Camera with 3x Optical Zoom (Silver).   

This camera has always captured evidence from all kinds of places we have been. We 

were able to capture orbs, spirit apparitions, and many more interesting anomalies.

2.  Digital Voice Recorder - we highly suggest you get one of these recorders --The voice recorders can pick up sounds from ghosts that the human ear cannot- this is where you will get your EVP's. I have been so surprised to hear evidence of a ghost hunt because sometimes you don't hear anything when you are there, but when you get home and listen to the recorder and put it in computer software- you will be amazed. We recommend the Olympus VN-6200PC Digital Voice Recorder. We have gotten alot of evidence with this little piece of machinery.

1. Buy the two items above

2. Buy an EMF reader- an EMF reader will let you know if there is any paranormal activity around you or in the place you are in-- we have not had much luck with EMF readers, but we know alot of people who do and that is why we put it on the list. We recommend the K-II EMF Meter. This type of EMF meter is very popular. You take the meter and you scan the place, if there is any paranormal activity, the EMF meter will read it and it will spike. Then you can use your camera to take a picture or use your digital recorder to talk to the spirit in the area where the meter had shown the spike.

Okay, then you are really lucky and I envy you.

2.  Buy the IR Infrared Thermometer Gun - this is a fascinating tool because you can use it to gauge the temperature in a place. Usually there will be extreme cold or hot pockets that will let you know that a spirit is there. You can use the gun and point to the area where you are feeling this temperature shift and it will give you a temperature reading. If the temperature all of sudden spikes high or then it spikes low- you have a spirit!!!!!


3. Buy the Cakewalk Music Creator 6  software- Why? Do ghosts like to boogie? No, this is for you to use to gather your EVP's from the digital voice recorder. This is a computer software that you can use for music projects, but it can also be used to listen to your EVP's on tracks. The software is great because you can listen and if you hear something you can enhance it so others can hear it too. You can cut and paste your most important evp's and then make a youtube video- that is for another post.


4. A good set of headphones- you will need these if you are listening to the EVP's on the computer. You will be able to hear alot of evidence just from using the headphones.


In any case, the things we use all the time are the digital camera, digital voice recorder, emf reader, cakewalk software and our computer with headphones. Yes, a computer is really handy- you may want to make a website of all of your evidence and share it with us...

What is Debunking?

Debunking is a fancy way of saying- Is it really a ghost or is it something else that is causing the activity? I am sure you have heard about debunking on those famous paranormal shows, and I know that GHOST HUNTERS debunk alot with their evidence. Debunking is important. You don't want to be one of those people who thinks everything they see or hear is a ghost. Sometimes it might be something else. You want to make sure that the evidence you are getting is legitimate and credible. You want to be able to question anything and be skeptical. Once you rule out other factors, then you can say that the activity could be paranormal.  For example, make sure that any cold spots you feel are not coming from an open window or an air vent. Also, if you are taking pictures or video, make sure the orbs are not flying pieces of dust. Orbs are usually a very tight closed circle and the do move. Remember, you want to show the evidence you got but you don't want people to think you haven't checked out all of the factors. Your credibility is more important!!!!!!!

Types of Paranormal Activity

There are many different types of paranormal activity that can occur in an investigation. Here are a list of the many different types:

Spirit Activity

• Orbs- these are balls of lights that can move- it usually signifies a spirit energy before it manifests into an spirit apparition.
• Spirit Apparitions -  an energy form that can look to have human features but is transparent- or has no boundaries- can have no details as well.
• Shadows - they appear like dark masses that can appear and disappear.
• Poltergeists - these are spirits that like to create havoc by moving objects and making sounds- they are unintelligent and very mischievous.
• Demons- these are nasty spirits that are always up to no good.
• Crawlers - they are also called night crawlers- they are described to be strange looking- there bodies are stick-like with alien features and they like to crawl up buildings and structures.

Most of our investigations had evidence of orbs, spirit apparitions, shadows--- I did have a personal experience with poltergeists years ago when I was in college- but that is for another story--- 

We have never seen a crawler but was told that there was one sighted at one of the places we were investigating. Also, we have never picked up on demons- but some of our audio evidence does sound demonic- In any case, you have to have an open mind when investigating. Most of the time you will have intelligent spirits that communicate with you and you will see the orbs in your pictures. In any case- I always find it to be fascinating to see the evidence after a good hunt.

Ladies and gentlemen, we are a paranormal team called "Encounters From the AfterLife".  We live in Florida and are considered paranormal enthusiasts--  We basically love everything about the paranormal and have gone on many ghost hunts. We have captured some awesome evidence, armed with just a digital camera and digital recorder. We have watched alot of the Paranormal shows out there, from "Ghost Adventures" to "Ghost Hunters'. But, we wanted to see for ourselves if we could capture a ghost. I guess you can say it is a hobby that we do because we do have normal 9-5 jobs. And I guess I want to let people know that anyone can do this and capture some interesting things on camera or audio. You don't have to be a professional paranormal investigator, but with alot of practice with ghost hunting- you can become one because if you can communicate with ghosts, capture evidence- you are a paranormal investigator- And on that note- we wanted to share information on how we went about in communicating with  ghosts and capturing evidence.  We know that alot of people are interested in ghost hunting, and alot of people do not know how to get started. We were there and we know how it feels to not know how to communicate with a ghost. That is why we wrote this blog.
